Amidst escalating conflict in the Holy Land, the US Bishops call for a National Day of Prayer and Fasting for peace and reconciliation. The USCCB echoes the call of the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaball, who released a statement stating:
"On behalf of all the Ordinaries of the Holy Land, I invite all parishes and religious communities to a day of fasting and prayer for peace and reconciliation...we ask that on Tuesday, Oct. 17, everyone hold a day of fasting, abstinence, and prayer... Let us organize prayer times with Eucharistic Adoration and with the recitation of the Rosary to Our Blessed Virgin Mary.”
As a parish community we join our hearts in prayer for those suffering, especially those who have lost their lives. Through prayer, we can come together as a community of faith and turn to God asking for peace, justice, and reconciliation.
St. Clare will have our weekly Eucharistic Adoration on Tuesday beginning at noon that will continue until before the 8:30am Mass on Wednesday. Attached below is a Litany for The End of War. As a Universal Church, we are called to do all we can to promote peace, in particularly, through our prayer. In the midst of your day, take a moment to pause and pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ, suffering through the inexplicable pains of war, that they may know peace.
