Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who made my welcome weekend at SCA so fabulous. Much gratitude and thanks goes to the Knights of Columbus for organizing the donuts after Mass. I am deeply grateful for all the kind words of welcome each of you shared with me. I truly look forward to getting to know you and walking this journey of faith together. I am but a humble shepherd that Jesus has called to serve you. I promise to do all with Jesus as I lead you closer to heaven. As part of my assignment as your new Pastor, I am to be formally installed by the Bishop. I will be contacting the bishop’s office and schedule my installation Mass and will let you know the date and time so we can join together in prayer and thanks to God. For now, know of my continued prayers.
Mission Co-Op
On the weekend of July 24/25, we will welcome Mary Stevenson from COAR (pronounced "CO - ar"), the Community of Oscar A. Romero. This is a foster care facility, school, and clinic serving vulnerable children in El Salvador since 1980. Mary is the Executive Director of the COAR Peace Mission – the U.S. fundraising and outreach arm of the COAR Children’s Village in Zaragoza, El Salvador. She was a student at Beaumont High School in Cleveland Heights when Sr. Dorothy Kazel, OSU, left to begin her five year assignment on the Cleveland Diocese’s Latin American Mission Team. Prevented from visiting the mission in the 1980s because of the civil war, including the murder of Sr. Dorothy, Mary first visited COAR in 1990 and experienced the anguish of El Salvador’s civil war through the orphans at COAR. Repeated visits through the years revealed the deep, healing, vital nature of the care, education, and vocational training that COAR gives its children. Mary will share with us more about the mission of COAR and how we can support their good work.
Employee Transition
Linda Putnam, our Business Manager, informed me that she has accepted a position with the Archdiocese and her last day at SCA will be July 16. She will be working for Father Martin and supporting him in his new role. She will be the Strategic Planning Manager. I will immediately post the position and start to collect resumes so as to fill this position as soon as possible. Linda has graciously agreed to help me during this transition to keep things running smoothly at the Parish. Please pray that the Lord will send us the right person for this important role. If you have the moment, too, please join me in thanking Linda for her service to our Parish.
Fr. Anthony R. Yates
